Understanding Lucid Dreaming
Lucid Dreaming is a technique by which one remains aware that one is dreaming while a dream is taking place. For this reason, it’s sometimes known as “Conscious Dreaming”. What this means for you is that when you are lucid dreaming, you know that you are having a dream, in the same way that when you step into the bus terminal you know you’re in the bus terminal and not in the countryside or out on the street. And, because of your awareness, you are able to exert a great deal of control over what happens in your dream.
The power of having complete control over the direction of your dreams is something straight out of metaphysical existence. Suddenly, all the limitations you ever felt in life just cease to exist.
But is it as simple as it looks like? Can everyone experience lucid dreaming and bring to life what otherwise seems difficult or impossible in this reality?
But the fact of the matter is, lucid dreaming is not at all that difficult, as long as you know what you’re doing. You really just need old fashioned determination and passion.
Perhaps most important of all is that you need to be perfectly clear regarding your personal objective in trying to master lucid dreaming. Are these lucid dreams for your own private playground, or do you have something more serious in mind? It doesn’t much matter, just as long as you’ve got it crystal clear in your mind’s eye.
Then starts the actual process of learning this art. Firstly, you need to learn a process, called Dream Recall, i.e., recalling a dream you had the previous night. Unless you remember a dream, you cant achieve the stage of lucid dreaming.
Now, Dream Recall, or remembering your dreams, can take a lot of time; but, you’ll tremendously help yourself if you use a dream journal. Place the dream journal beside your bed, and when you wake up in the morning immediately grab it and start writing down everything you can about your previous night’s dreams, starting with the one you were most recently having. Slow as it is, in time you’ll realize you are progressing within this process, and becoming ever more able to remember your dreams in detail.
Many people have used hypnosis to dramatically reduce the time they need to train their subconscious mind to engage in lucid dreaming. Many times merely one of two hypnosis sessions permit one to consistently remember all of their dreams, so they are prepared for lucid dreaming.
While in a lucid dream, it may happen that suddenly, you are wide-awake. However, with the power that you have attained so far, youll be easily able to recollect all the important details of the dream. Now, just try to relax and sleep again, while continuing the dream with the desired directions. When you wake up, youll realize the real power of conscious dreaming you just experienced the night before.
Lucid dreams can be readily induced by going back to sleep for a couple of hours after you wake up in the morning. These dreams are the closest to lucid dreams, because they seem to be borderline between actual dreams or your conscious thoughts manifested in anticipation of an event for that day. Just set an alarm clock to go off a couple of hours before you will be waking up for the day, then turn it off and go back to sleep to experience lucid dreaming.
You may realize now that its extremely helpful to keep track of your sleeping patterns so you may find the best times to have lucid dreams.
It’s always been hard, however, to actually take the time to prepare the mind for lucid dreaming. But recent advances in sonic technology have made it all more egalitarian.
Recent advances in sound technologies have made it much faster and easier for one to learn lucid dreaming.
Slightly different frequencies get played into each ear by way of stereophonic technology. Thus, the listener’s brain waves are harmonized to the right frequency for lucid dreaming to be induced.
In the years prior to this technology, only certain meditation techniques, which frequently took long years to learn and the perseverance and determination of a sage or saint, were available, and this drove many people to abandon their lucid dreaming quests altogether.
Before this technology was available the only sure way to be able to lucid dream to order was by the way of meditation techniques which often took years to learn and the perseverance and determination required was too much of a struggle for most people.
If you combine listening to binaural sound waves, hypnosis and affirmations to prepare the subconscious mind, lucid dreaming can happen very soon after your first attempt.
